Year 2

Welcome to Year Two

Class Teachers - Mrs Booth & Mrs Thornton

Welcome to Year 2.

Your class teachers are Mrs Booth and Mrs Thornton.  Mrs Booth teaches the children on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning.  Mrs Thornton teaches on Wednesday, Thursday and a Friday.

This term we will be reading Beatrix Potter stories. We will be using role play and drama as a tool to creating our own animal stories.  We will also create our own animal poems and write letters to character's in the books.  We will be investigating how plants grow and planting our own seeds and beans. We will also use Monet's style of painting to create our own water colour paintings of animals. As the teaching of History is a school focus, we will be investiagting World War II and what life was like in clitheroe for a child.  We will listen to war stories and use artefacts as a line of enquiry. For  more information please see the curriculum grid and newsletter.

For those parents and carers who were unable to make the 'meet the teacher' meeting last night, we have attached the PowerPoint so you can read the key notes.

Any questions, please don't hesitate to speak to Mrs Booth or Mrs Thornton before or after school.

Thank you for your continued support

P.E

P.E will usually take place on a Monday and a Thursday.  Please ensure your child’s P.E kit is in school for these days.  Please see our prospectus for the correct P.E uniform.

Times tables

By the end of Year 2, children are expected to know their 2,3, 5 and 10 times table.  Please help your child to practise their time tables.  If you have access to a tablet or computer at home, the children have individual Times table Rock star logins.  This program challenges children, testing their times tables skills and gets them racing against their peers.
