This half term our topic is "The Moral Of The Story is..."
During this time, please use the home learning tab to the left of the screen. I will also communicate with you via Dojo and email.
Our timetables on the website may be helpful in pitching what is covered in a day. Obviously home learning will be very different, but you can at least see the number of lessons. The most important aspects are reading and writing and maths daily. Grammar, punctuation and spelling from Year 3 to Year 6, and daily reading of other books and stories and being read with and to develop fluency and comprehension are hugely important.
1. Home reading books sent in multiples. Due to the number of books in school, some for younger children may also be non-decodable but this is necessary to ensure there are enough books. In regular circumstances books are matched to phonic ability.
As usual, parents can ask questions about the book.
2. A Home Learning Book
Children can complete any home learning in a home learning book. Please write the subject in the margin, e.g. English or Maths, and use the long date for English (younger children will need this doing for them in the EYFS) e.g. Thursday 12th March, and use the short date for maths, e.g. 12.3.20.
Children can complete at least one English activity per school day, and one maths activity per school day. There may be a geography, history, RE or art lesson that could be developed at home.This might be in a wider project.
Handwriting should be precursive (see guide) in EYFS and Year 1 and cursive (see guide – joined up) if they are doing this in school – roughly from Year 2 onwards.
Dates and titles (if appropriate) can be underlined.
Online learning- Times tables Rockstars for Y2 to Y6 is particularly useful. Please ensure you have your log in details.
Practical Learning – Using guidance from teachers you could use items at home for counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication or division, acting out problems and topics. If you have access to the garden, develop your PE objectives from the progression on the website.
Packs – You will receive a pack of materials from me with activities related to the topic and subjects due to be covered.

Spellings are tested weekly. Here are the Year 3 and 4 words.
Times tables are really important and children are expected to know their 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10 and 11 times tables by the end of Year 3. Please practise these with your child as often as possible.
Children are encouraged to behave well in class through consistent praise, stickers, the opportunity to acquire house points, the opportunity to achieve Premier League Stars Certificates and the collection of ‘soldiers’ (every time the class has ten soldiers they will receive ten minutes extra play time.)
